In 2025, the Trut celebrated its 40th anniversary with a documentary and a big party. On this page, you'll find photos and videos of some of the highlights.

EXHIBITION ABOUT 40 YEARS TRUT

To mark the 40th anniversary, an exhibition was held featuring relics, photos, films, etc. from the rich history of De Trut. Additionally, two documentaries about De Trut were screened continuously: “De Trut 30 Jaar” from 2015 and “De Trut: 10 Portretten” from 2025, both by director P!m Mookhoek. The opening took place on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in the Marble Hall of the Tetterode live-work building in Amsterdam.

In the summer of 2026, this exhibition will 'go on tour' and be on display a number of times. Information regarding dates and locations will follow here shortly.

TRUT DOCUMENTARY AT THE ROZE FILMDAGEN

On Sunday, March 22, the sold-out screening of the documentary took place during the Roze Filmdagen.

This special Trut community screening (naturally on a Sunday evening) was supplemented with more stories from those involved over the past few years, led by Dickey Heerkens, after which the die-hard Trutters headed down to the infamous queue on Bilderdijkstraat.

NEW DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE TRUT

On November 14, 2025, Pim Mookhoek's documentary "The Trut: 10 Portraits" premiered at Pakhuis de Zwijger (further distribution and information will follow soon).

He portrayed ten people who work at the Trut, dance there, or are supported by the Trutfonds Foundation. Bart Krieger, representing MVS, attended the premiere and spoke with Pim and the volunteers.

The sold-out venue was packed with veterans and the new generation of the Trut. During a panel discussion, four enthusiastic Trutters discussed the challenges of a volunteer-based queer club and maintaining identity in a changing scene.

DECEMBER 20, 2025, DINER & PARTY AT TILLATEC

On Saturday, December 20, 2025, the Trut celebrated its 40th anniversary at a sold-out TILLATEC. Starting at 7:00 PM, over 200 guests enjoyed a three-course dinner and fantastic acts. The 2025 TRUTAWARDS were also presented, culminating in a €40,000 donation to the AIDS Fund. Over 1,700 guests then partied in three different venues, featuring 30 DJs and a dozen acts.
