FILM SCREENING + DISCUSSION
THE TRUT 40 YEAR!
PAKHUIS DE ZWIJGER
Amsterdam's queer party de TRUT is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year! Along with everyone who makes de TRUT possible, we'll be talking with four passionate members of the TRUT community. We'll discuss the challenges of a volunteer-based queer club, how de TRUT maintains its identity in a changing queer landscape, and what the next 40 years will look like.
The premiere of the documentary "De TRUT: 10 Portretten" by filmmaker Pim Mookhoek will also be taking place. He portrays ten people who work at de TRUT, dance at it, or are supported by the Stichting Fonds de TRUT. Filming in de TRUT was permitted for the first time for this film. After an evening filled with conversation, performances, and footage of 40 years of de TRUT, we'll conclude with dancing and drinks.
Friday, November 14, 8:00 PM.
Pakhuis De Zwijger.

TRUT VIBES #21
Trut Vibes brings the atmosphere and magic of De Trut to life through meetings and interviews with a DJ, volunteer, or visitor.
This time, P!m Mookhoek, a former Trut volunteer, talks about his new documentary "10 Portraits of People from 'DE TRUT,'" premiering soon, and about his time as a volunteer. Followed by P!m's selection from the documentary's soundtrack, compiled by Riezs, AKA QueerNoiseMachine.
Trut Vibes is presented by Robert Weijers for MVS Gaystation, in collaboration with De Trut.

TRUTAWARDS 2025
This year De Trut celebrates its 40th anniversary! To mark the occasion, we will award a major prize of € 40.000,00 to an HIV/AIDS and/or queer related charity. In addition, we want the community to ask for suggestions which charity should also receive a donation: The Community Choice. Submit your suggestion now!
COMMUNITY CHOICE
Send your suggestion for The Community Choice to: trutaward@trutfonds.nl, or write down your suggestion on the card available at the bar or at the door. It must be an HIV/AIDS and/or queer related charity. De Trut will create a shortlist from all the suggestions, which will later be put to a vote.
PLEASE NOTE!
From August 31, 2025, through December 14, 2025, we will increase the entrance fee by 1 euro. During this period, the entrance fee will temporarily be 4 euros. For each ticket sold, we will donate 1 euro to The Community Choice.

Presentation of the TrutAward 2014 by Mike de Boer to the Stichting Roze Buddyzorg Amsterdam
GRANTS 2024: € 48.400
We, the employees of Association the Trut, all work as volunteers and the fixed costs of the Trut are relatively low.
As a result, the association makes a nice profit, despite the low drink prices.
We give the net profit to Foundation The Trut Fund, which is then spent entirely on subsidies for LHBTQIA+ projects worldwide.
Every two months, the foundation's subsidy committee meets to discuss the applications received.
The overview shows which projects we have awarded subsidies for in 2024. On the fund page you can read how to apply for a subsidy.
DONATE?!
You can also donate to the Trut Fund.

THE SUBSIDY COMMISSION MEETS EVERY TWO MONTHS TO DECIDE WHICH APPLICATIONS WILL BE GRANT A SUBSIDY. HERE WE PUT ONE OF THEM IN THE SPOTLIGHT.
THE ORGANISATION: TRANS RESCUE
Trans Rescue is a volunteer organization that helps trans and queer people escape life-threatening situations in some of the world’s most dangerous places. We’ve safely relocated over 170 individuals in the last four years, offering not just a way out, but a path forward. Trans Rescue is a national organization located in The Netherlands that primarily works internationally as a rescue organization for global trans and queer individuals in need of aid.
THE PROJECT
The East African Emergency Trans Decarceration Fund would be a resource to cover the costs of freeing trans and queer individuals from situations of incarceration in East Africa, specifically focusing on jail detention. Trans and queer people face various forms of violence while imprisoned. Trans people in countries like Uganda who have been incarcerated because of their identities are often held at carceral institutions until bail is paid. Incarcerated individuals are rarely able to raise bail on their own and invariably subject to torture in jail. If they fail to pay bail, they are likely to die in police custody.
This fund would serve as a springboard for queer and trans livelihoods seeking to escape life-threatening circumstances. We will use these funds to directly emancipate trans and queer people from dangerous situations of detention in East Africa, after which we can provide holistic organizational and legal support to evacuate them to safer locations through our network of organizational contacts.
THE SUBSIDY
The Trut Foundation has decided to subsidize Trans Rescue with € 2.000,00.
This project would support a target group of trans and queer individuals who have been incarcerated for their identities in the East African region.

THE TRUT 1985-2025
The Trut is a legendary, non-commercial queer club in Amsterdam that has played an important role in the city's LGBTIQA+ scene for decades. The club is best known for its unique atmosphere, anti-commercial stance, and the fact that it is run exclusively by volunteers.
On October 17, 1981, the vacant Tetterode complex on the Bilderdijkstraat in Amsterdam is squatted. The former type foundry and printing press factory, where hundreds of Amsterdammers had worked since 1903, is then nominated for demolition. The severely neglected complex of three high-rise buildings ...

WHAT MAKES DE TRUT SO SPECIAL?
100% volunteers: For 40 years, De Trut has been running entirely on the efforts of passionate volunteers. The profits from Sunday evening go entirely to small-scale LGBTQI+ activities, in 2024 more than €48,000.00.
A rich history: Since the 1980s, De Trut has been a safe and vibrant place for the queer community. We are proud of our history and the role we play in the emancipation of LGBTQIA+ people.
A flat organizational structure: With us, everyone is equal. We believe in collaboration and give every volunteer a voice in the club's ins and outs. We do not have a director or manager and decisions are made by consensus.
A close-knit community: At De Trut you will find a warm and inclusive environment where you can be yourself and meet new people.
